Top Ten Things I Love About Germany

I'm in Germany for 3 months teaching English, and it's been great so far!

Here are a few of my favorite things: (I feel like bursting into song with Maria from "The Sound of Music" - "raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...")

  1. "Kaffee Pause" - afternoon coffee breaks with cakes and cookies.

  2. Germans usually have 30 days of vacation time a year - sometimes up to 2 months! In the U.S. most people only get 2 weeks.

  3. Kids riding on their training bicycles - with no pedals or training wheels - they just push themselves along the street. Great idea!

  4. Breakfast of crusty bread, salami, cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. Mmm-mmm!

  5. The aroma of baking pretzels and baguettes when I walk by the bakeries... irresistable!

  6. Walking and biking everywhere around town.

  7. Fall leaves - gorgeous yellows and oranges.

  8. Old stone churches with bells that chime on the hour.

  9. A castle in every city! Our city's castle has beautiful gardens around it to walk, bike, or have a picnic.

  10. Most people I've met speak English really well! And they're so patient and understanding with my lack of German language skills.

I love Deutschland! :)
